Reacting vs Research

Some people nowadays want to react to news, react to things people say, without proper homework and research going into it, and confirmation of that research. We can break this down simply by the social media Earth is flat debate started by a YouTuber. If one instead of just reacting to his video would have done their research, they would have found multiple “facts” he states were actually false information. The video no matter how convincing was laid out based on false information that if one reacted only, one would believe and spread as people did. Another example of this is of course the large amount of deleted tweets celebrities and other major influencers make on twitter. A lot of people communicate feelings based on reaction to something, and either do their research, or their publicist does and that “reaction” is erased.

Reacting is, in truth, one taking low responsibility for something and/or what they are communicating or reacting to. It takes very little responsibility to actually just react to something. You are taking information you don't know to be true or false, and can spread that information, or get upset, or do something about that information without really knowing fully the truth. It might be slightly harder, but doing your own research is the key to not dealing with this problem.

Doing your own research and observation is much more responsible as the trickling effect of your reaction can do you great harm in the eyes of others, and/or can do great harm to others. On the other hand taking responsibility is the research, the homework, the knowledge gained to be able to make an informed and responsible decision. Doing your own research can also include getting multiple sources of that information. If someone is saying the stove was left on all night, go look at the stove before you have a negative reaction to it.

Accountability is there no matter what. You are responsible for your decision, and might be forced to take responsibility and will have some accountability for a bad reaction. If one takes a fully responsible approach, one is less likely to experience a negative response or cause a bad effect as a result of his decision. For example the stock markets and investing. So much reaction caused so much fluctuation over the last year and a half. One of the simple examples of this is Crypto Currencies. Bitcoin rising to 55k and diving back down so quickly. Those who’ve succeeded have done their research and gotten their knowledge on it so as to make informed decisions.

You are far better off doing the research and taking the responsibility for the action you take which you will be accountable for. Otherwise the reactivity sets you up for only 2 options. Getting lucky, or dealing with the consequences. It’s time for all of us to take a breath. Do our homework, do our research, and make an informed decision so we can be accountable for our actions and make it easy to be so.
